El Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya està seguint de prop els casos de grip pel nou virus A(H1N1), per tal de conèixer el desenvolupament del virus entre la població i protegir la salut de les persones, en estreta coordinació amb el Ministeri de Sanitat i Política Social, tot acomplint les recomanacions del Centre Europeu per a la Prevenció i el Control de la Malaltia i de l’Organització Mundial de la Salut (OMS), que és qui segueix l’evolució mundial dels casos de grip.
Què és la grip pel nou virus A(H1N1)?
La grip pel nou virus A(H1N1) és una malaltia respiratòria contagiosa que conté elements d’un virus trobat als porcs, a les aus i als humans. Aquesta grip s’està transmetent de persona a persona en diversos països. La grip pel nou virus A(H1N1) és diferent de la grip comuna perquè està causada per un nou virus de la grip que apareix en humans.
Com es transmet la grip?
La grip pel nou virus A(H1N1) es transmet de la mateixa manera que la grip comuna: els virus de la grip es transmeten a través de les petites gotes que surten del nas o de la boca quan una persona malalta de grip tus o esternuda sense tapar-se el nas i la boca amb un mocador. Aquestes petites gotes i els gèrmens que contenen poden propagar-se a les persones que estan a prop i les respiren.
També si una persona tus o esternuda a la mà, aquestes petites gotes i els gèrmens que contenen poden transmetre’s de la seva mà a qualsevol superfície que toqui i poden perviure en aquesta superfície durant un temps. Objectes quotidians com ara baranes, manetes de portes, teclats i ratolins d’ordinador, telèfons, etc., són les superfícies més comunes on pot trobar-se el virus de la grip. Si una altra persona toca aquestes superfícies i després es toca la cara, els gèrmens poden entrar en el seu organisme i infectar-se. És així com es contagien els virus de la grip, incloent el de la grip pel nou virus A(H1N1). En cap cas es transmet per via digestiva; per tant, la grip pel nou virus A(H1N1) no es transmet amb el consum de carn de porc.
Què podeu fer per protegir-vos i protegir altres persones?

Els medicaments antivirals no curen, però ajuden si s’administren dintre de les 48 hores posteriors als primers símptomes:
• alleujant alguns símptomes
• reduint la durada de la malaltia
• reduint la probabilitat de complicacions importants, com la pneumònia
En tots els casos cal que aquesta medicació sigui receptada per un metge o per una metgessa.
Existeix una vacuna?
No encara. La grip pel nou virus A(H1N1) no és la mateixa que la grip comuna. Es tracta d’un tipus de virus totalment nou i, per tant, la vacuna contra la grip comuna no protegeix contra el nou virus. Només es pot elaborar una vacuna quan s’ha identificat la soca concreta del virus de la grip i això pot trigar alguns mesos a produir-se.
